Military expenditures are exploding… right wing politics on the increase… instability in the Middle East… instability in Europe… instability in Germany… instability in the USA… instability in the UK… the world now enters…

“End of the Age Mode”

“It is of course impossible to guess what the end of the year will precisely look like. Nevertheless, we wish to draw our readers’ attention to the fact that the whole planet is currently in a general and simultaneous repositioning phase.

The United States gives the final blow to an international system (WTO, UN, Unesco, etc) which it no longer controls.

Military expenditures are exploding all around in a race for technological primacy (multipolar arms race).

Governments are swinging one by one towards a hard right-wing, which soon will no longer be called the far-right (Austria, Italy, Spain, USA, Russia, India, Turkey, Israel, Brazil, etc).

The parties belonging to the institutional left have been blown out of the water, whilst the radical movements of the left-wing (called ‘the populists’, see 5-star movement) fill in large rooms.” (

Cause And Effect

All the instability in the modern world has a cause, but mankind is blinded to that cause. Satan is “the god of this world” (ll Corinthians 4:4) and the Satan has “deceived the whole world” (Revelation 12:9). Here is the root cause of all of today’s chaotic world, as explained by Mr Armstrong:

…Satan broadcasts. He doesn’t broadcast in words, or definite thoughts, but in attitudes that lead to thoughts and lead to motives and motivations.( Sermon - December 31, 1983)

The “Motives And Motivations”

As you will see from the following articles, instability is the new normal:

Instability in the Middle East

“Tensions in the Middle East are at boiling point after a series of fiery diplomatic disputes. A huge power play between Saudi Arabia and Iran looks set to draw their neighbours into a bitter conflict.

Saudi Arabia vs Iran

Saudi Arabia has accused Iran of an ‘act of war’ after a missile was intercepted over the capital city Riyadh …the Saudi ruling coalition claimed the missile launch was an aggressive act by Iran…

Saudi Arabia vs Yemen

There is growing tension between Yemen and the Saudis due to the same incident, as it was Yemeni Houthi militias who fired the missile. The rebels, backed by Iran, have seized control of the capital Sanaa and forced the government into exile.

Saudi Arabia vs Lebanon

Saudi Arabia has accused Lebanon of declaring war against the kingdom over aggression by Lebanese group Hezbollah.

Lebanon vs Iran

Lebanon is fully immersed in the regional power play between Saudi Arabia and Iran with key political figures playing into it.

Bahrain vs Lebanon

Bahrain has ordered its citizens to leave Lebanon amid mounting tensions between regional powers and Iran.

Qatar vs Everyone

Several countries, including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, have severed diplomatic ties with Qatar and imposed land, sea and air blockades. Qatar is accused of supporting terrorist groups, including Islamic State and Hezbollah - charges the oil-rich state strongly denies.” (

Instability Across Europe

“UKIP MEP Tim Aker rose on the floor of the European Union to claim the European Union is ‘riddled with panic’. Mr Aker said: ‘They have seen parties who love country, nation, sovereignty, rise across the European Union and it has not got a clue how to stop them. I am just glad we are walking away from this’.” (

Instability In Germany

“Even though Angela Merkel was re-elected on Sunday, Germany doesn’t feel very celebratory. As a German, I’ve never seen such a worried, agitated and sullen public in my country… ‘There is immense unrest in Germany,’ notes Stephan Grünewald from the Rheingold Institute in Cologne, who specializes in conducting psychological in-depth interviews with voters: ‘In our interviews, all the talk was about: refugee crisis, refugee crisis, refugee crisis. The psychological mood of the voters is wobbly, I have never before experienced such rage and so much hate among the test persons’.” (

Note: Seven weeks after the election in Germany, Mrs Merkel has been unable to form a government as yet!

Instability In German Politics

Now even members of Mrs Merkel’s own party want a change in the leadership!

“A member of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s own party said their conservative CDU needs ‘new party leadership,’ accusing Merkel of shifting the party further to the left. Alexander Mitsch, who leads a right-leaning group within the CDU, in an interview on Monday criticized the party’s immigration policies in recent years as well as the loss of voters’ support in September’s national election. ‘ Now after this election debacle, in which the CDU had the worst result since 1949… the party leadership is obviously not ready to correct anything,’ he told broadcaster Deutschlandfunk. ‘That brings us then to the realization that we need new party leadership’.” (

Instability In The German Parliament

“When the German parliament meets for the first time on Tuesday after last month’s general election, it will be bigger than ever. It is likely to be more bad-tempered and dysfunctional too. A failure to reform Germany’s electoral system, which adds extra seats so the final total reflects parties’ overall share of the vote, means the assembly has a record 709 members. That makes it the biggest elected national parliament in the Western world.” (

EU: And the answer is – more integration!

“Brussels was accused last night of ‘ hurtling at breakneck speed’ towards becoming a post-Brexit superstate after the EU set out plans for its own Chancellor of the Exchequer. Jean-Claude Juncker’s European Commission has signed off a new ‘agenda for a more united and stronger’ Europe. It includes a new European Union finance supremo able to go into member states and make ‘structural reforms’ to their domestic budgets – and accelerates Brussels’ timetable for closer integration. The decision was last night greeted by Brexiteers as vindication for the UK’s Leave vote.” (

And now: THe EU seeks its own army

In spite of all the unstable conditions in Europe, some in Europe are pushing for the formation of an EU army. Asking the nations of Europe to “… hand over control of military affairs” to the EU seems to tie in with the prophecy in Revelation 17:13

“These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.” (Revelation 17:13)

Interesting that the call originated with a German politician!

A German MEP has outlined how the EU will push through its plans to build its own army , by encouraging member states to ‘save money’ by handing over control of military affairs. The European Union will persuade other member-states to join Jean-Claude Juncker’s plan for a bloc-wide army by grounding it in ‘economic efficiency’.

Jo Leinen, a German MEP, dropped the shock revelation yesterday, claiming the policy of national armies ‘cannot continue’ for much longer. It comes as Donald Tusk, the European Council President, plans to set up an EU army by the end of the year to fight back againstdestabilisation around Europe’.” (

Point to note here: they claim that they need an army to “…fight back against destabilisation around Europe”. Who is seen to be destabilizing Europe right now? Britain?

Germany Is Already Quietly Building A European Army

While the politicians talk about it, the groundwork for the Euro-army is already underway, led by Germany, as the following article points out!

“Berlin is using a bland name to obscure a dramatic shift in its approach to defense: integrating brigades from smaller countries into the Bundeswehr.

Every few years, the idea of an EU army finds its way back into the news, causing a kerfuffle. The concept is both fantasy and bogeyman: For every federalist in Brussels who thinks a common defense force is what Europe needs to boost its standing in the world, there are those in London and elsewhere who recoil at the notion of a potential NATO rival.

But this year, far from the headlines, Germany and two of its European allies, the Czech Republic and Romania, quietly took a radical step down a path toward something that looks like an EU army while avoiding the messy politics associated with it: They announced the integration of their armed forces.” (

Germany: “USA And Britain Unreliable”!

This is the feeling of many in Germany and in much of Europe – and backed by the Roman Catholic Church!

“After meeting US President Donald Trump in May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Europe can’t rely anymore on the US and the UK and needs to go its own way. German Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Munch, Germany, said on Friday that he agrees, saying Europe should ‘fight on the global scene for human rights, for a global community of humanity, like the pope says, the one house of creation.’ Marx spoke with Crux during a break in the ‘Dialogue (Re) Thinking Europe’ conference, taking place in the Vatican October 27-29.

During his opening remarks, Italian Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, also spoke about the importance of Europe’s unity. ‘The outcome of the British referendum last year, and the tendency to fragmentation sweeping the continent, have led the (Pope) to consider the urgent need to promote a more wide-ranging and focused reflection on Europe as a whole and on its future direction, even beyond the confines of the European Union ,’ Parolin said.” (

Roman Catholic Church “Committed To Peace”!

“Pope Francis addresses the participants at the ‘(Re)Thinking Europe’, the future of the European Project congress held at the Vatican. He wants to remind members that the Church is committed to the ‘peace project’. It is put on by COMECE, the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community. There are 350 participants, including well-known EU politicians, Catholic cardinals and bishops and other Christian organizations and movements.” (

Pope: “Preparing The Church For EU Collapse.”

“Catholic bishops across Europe largely have been making a stand in defense of continental unity, a position backed by Pope Francis. Yet in a major speech on Europe Saturday, Francis made clear he’s also no champion of the European status quo, and in fact seems to regard it as passing away. In that context, he laid out his own version of the ‘Benedict option’ for the Church’s role.

It is clear where the Catholic Church stands on what is, without doubt, the greatest challenge to the European order since World War II: the outbreak of nationalism.

From Brexit to Catalonia, as well as the rise of far-right parties in central Europe, the Catholic reaction has been almost uniformly to sound the alarm. In the pope’s lengthy speech, there was both a strong critique of the current state of things as well as more than a hint that the status quo has had its day.

Much of the speech, in fact, delineated what Francis sees as the Church’s task now, which is to construct a counter-culture from the ruins of a collapsing political and economic order.

Aware that ‘ European Project Over, Declares Pope’ would be a headline too far, Francis never quite says that about the contemporary scene. But some of his statements apocalyptically suggest that it’s heading that way.

He warned that the EU will fulfill its vocation to peace only if it ‘can renew itself in order to respond to the needs and expectations of its citizens,’ with the implication that it no longer is.

He suggests that Europe is headed down a dark road, and that, rather than trying to cling to what shows signs of giving way, the Church should focus on shining torches in the tunnel. We might call it ‘Pope Francis’s Benedict Option.’ He’s not giving up on the European Union just yet, but preparing the Church for its likely collapse .” (

The Catholic Answer To Europe’s Problems:

Back to your roots!

“Contemplating these saints, [Pope Benedict] said, ‘it is natural to pause and reflect on the contribution that Christianity has made, and continues to make, to the building of Europe.’

Benedict then turned to the pilgrimage made by ‘Servant of God John Paul II’ in 1982 to Santiago de Compostela, where he performed a solemn ‘European act’ during which he pronounced these memorable words: ‘I, bishop of Rome and pastor of the Universal Church, from Santiago, address to you, old Europe, a cry full of love: Return to yourself! Be yourself! Discover your origins. Revive your roots. Experience again those authentic values that made your history glorious and your presence in other continents beneficial ’.” (

The Roots: The Holy Roman Empire 554-1814

Those origins, those roots, those authentic values, that glorious history… this is referring to the Holy Roman Empire. “Experience again those authentic values that made your history glorious and your presence in other continents beneficial.” Here are just a few examples of the “glorious history” of the Holy Roman Empire, and how it “benefited the nations of the world”:

…beneficial to those killed in the Crusades?
…beneficial to the Aztec Empire?
…beneficial to the Inca Empire?

1095–1291: Crusades. Death toll: 1,700,00

1519: Mexico. Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. Death toll: 23,000,000

1533: Peru. Spanish conquest of the Inca empire. Death toll: 8,400,000(

The Inquisitions

What about the inquisitions in Europe? Tens of millions of “heretics” brutally tortured and killed during the Middle Ages – is this the glorious history of the authentic values referred to in that speech?

It was a means used by the Church to enforce orthodoxy. Inquisitors would go out into troublesome regions, question people intensively, conduct tribunals and mete out punishments, sometimes harsh ones, like burning at the stake. Depending on the time and place, the targets were heretics, Jews, Muslims, Protestants, rationalists and sometimes people who held superstitious beliefs.

The Inquisition everyone has heard of is the Spanish Inquisition, but there was more than one Inquisition, and the earliest, at the start of the 13th century, wasn’t in Spain. And although Jews were sometimes the focus of that first Inquisition, as they primarily were in Spain, the more urgent targets were Christian heretics in the south of France and northern Italy.

The official start is usually given as 1231 AD, when the pope appoints the first ‘inquisitors of heretical depravity.’ The Spanish Inquisition, which begins under Ferdinand and Isabella, doesn’t end until the 19th century — the last execution was in 1826. At the outset, the main focus was on Jews and ‘judaizers’ — Christian converts of Jewish ancestry who were accused of secretly adhering to Judaism. The Roman Inquisition, created to fight the Reformation, and run from the Vatican, doesn’t come to an end until the 20th century.

Does it survive in any form?

The Vatican’s Congregation of the Inquisition was formally abolished in 1908 — but it may be more correct to say it was renamed. It was turned into the Holy Office, which in the 1960s became the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. This is the department that Cardinal Josef Ratzinger ran before he became Pope Benedict XVI.

It occupies the palazzo built for the Inquisition in the middle of the 16th century. And it’s still the department that keeps an eye on what theologians write, sometimes calling them on the carpet.” (

Pope: Christian Fundamentalism “Is A Sickness”

The Catholic attitude to non-Catholics hasn’t changed!

Is a belief in the strict, literal interpretation of the Bible ‘a sickness’? Pope Francis appears to think so. Just a few days ago, multiple reporters heard Francis describe fundamentalism as ‘a sickness that is in all religions’ – including Christianity.

But precisely what is fundamentalism? If you go to Google, it is defined as ‘a form of a religion, especially Islam or Protestant Christianity, that upholds belief in the strict, literal interpretation of scripture.’ So does Pope Francis really intend to ‘combat’ those that believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible?

During his papacy, Francis has made it a point to reach out to leaders from all sorts of different religions. But apparently his ‘tolerance’ does not extend to those that believe that the Bible is actually true. And this is not the first time that he has said something like this. Last year, he publicly stated that there is not any room for ‘fundamentalism’ in Christianity… Sadly, these comments have not gotten the international attention that they deserve.(

Can A Leopard Change Its Spots?

As the previous article points out, “tolerance” does not extend to those that believe that the Bible is actually true.

Could there really be a modern day inquisition? Nothing has changed except the name of the department. The Roman Catholic Church is still totally intolerant of all who do not follow the Catholic faith – especially those who believe the Bible.

As the first article pointed out, “the whole planet is currently in a general and simultaneous repositioning phase”. As a result, major changes are about to take place in the world. One of those changes will be the resurrection of the Holy Roman Empire – a union of Church and State.

The Catholic Church is planning ahead!

“Much of the speech, in fact, delineated what Francis sees as the Church’s task now, which is to construct a counter-culture from the ruins of a collapsing political and economic order .” (

“Should Christians always obey man rather than God? Millions were put to death, honored in the Bible as the martyrs long ago. And, according to Revelation 6:9-11, there will very soon be another mass martyrdom of God’s people.

But Revelation 12:14 and 3:10 show that this Church shall escape the soon-coming martyrdom of saints and be taken to a place of safety, during the coming great tribulation. Let’s be sure we obey Christ first!( Pastor’s Report – July 11, 1979)

So, can a leopard really change its spots?

The answer is no! We understand from prophecy that there will shortly be another great inquisition – the Bible refers to it as the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21) – when many will again be killed for going against the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

“For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24:21-22).

The Roman Catholic Church is headed back to its “authentic values”! We have been warned… but our hope remains in God's promised protection of His people .
