| The very character of God is described as "love" in 1John 4:8,16. But that character is expanded into a number of characteristics in 1Corinthians 13 when it says: Love is very patient, very kind. Love knows no jealousy, love makes no parade, gives itself no airs, is never rude, never selfish, never irritated, never resentful (verses 4-5 Moffat). Verses 6-7 will be dealt with in part 2.
