Merkel could be Ousted end of Next Week

GERMANY - German Chancellor Angela Merkel could lose her powerful seat in the heart of Europe as soon as next week amid clashes within her coalition Government over EU migration policies, claimed German MP Kai Whittaker. Speaking on BBC World at One, the German politician claimed clashes between Angela Merkel and German interior minister Horst Seehofer could result in a "new political situation" in Germany by the end of next week.

The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) politician said it was still unclear in Berlin what the essence of the disagreement between the Chancellor and Mr Seehofer was and that other members of the coalition had been left "in the blue". Mr Whittaker said: “We are in a serious situation because the question of the migration crisis evolved into a power question. The question is who is leading the Government? Is it Angela Merkel or is it Horst Seehofer?

Despite them pledging to back her, her MPs are also demanding a change in Germany’s “open-door” migration policy. And CSU MPs already declared they will support their leader, Mr Seehofer. The rift puts Mrs Merkel in an awkward situation as she is facing a serious challenge to her authority which could limit her ability to negotiate with other EU state members.

And her own position as a Chancellor is under threat because a walkout of CSU MPs from the coalition would see her losing a majority in Parliament. The plan proposed by Mr Seehofer would replace an already existing EU rule, which allows Germany to send asylum-seekers back to the first member state they entered.

Our comment

Mrs Merkel has been widely regarded as not just one of the most powerful politicians in Europe, but in the Western World. The question is, why did she allow over one million young Muslim men into Germany? She must surely have been aware of the cultural consequences and of the dangers of admitting terrorists into Germany! It seems a strange decision by such an astute politician!

So, was it an act of political misjudgement, or a calculated plot to create instability in Germany?

In an article written in response to the murder of a teenage German girl in Wiesbaden by a rejected asylum-seeker, AfD member of parliament for Mainz Sebastian Munzenmaier, states: “Merkel is Chancellor for Refugees, Not for German People. So, yes, the asylum system is to blame for what happened. We lost our borders, we lost our justice system, we are betrayed by our government…”

The mood in Germany corresponds with this opinion, hence the challenge to Mrs Merkel's authority by coalition leader Mr Horst Seehofer. As the article questions: “…who is leading the Government? Is it Angela Merkel or is it Horst Seehofer?” Good question!

German interior minister Horst Seehofer is the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) - Mrs Merkel’s coalition partner. When we look at the beliefs of this man, it would seem doubtful that the present coalition government in Germany could last for much longer.

“A staunch opponent of Chancellor Angela Merkel's refugee policy, Seehofer has threatened to file a formal complaint against the Merkel government's refugee policy with Germany's Constitutional Court and is a proponent of a federal cap on the number of refugees the German government is to take in. Seehofer strongly opposes the potential admission of Turkey into the European Union, citing its status as a member of the ‘Muslim world’.” (wikipedia.org)

Many feel that if this government falls, then the AfD would be the main beneficiary in the next election.

This is a situation to watch carefully!

Just what is an Apostle?

Today we find the Church of God in a “wilderness of religious confusion!”

The confusion is not merely around the Church – within the religions of the world outside – but WITHIN the very heart of The True Church itself!
