What Is a Christian?
given USA 27 Aug 1983 played Wales UK 16 Sept 2006
Although this tape is dated 27 Aug 85, this was not a Sabbath. So it is probably from 27 Aug 1983 which was. In it Mr Armstrong launches straight into the subject, and shows how a Christian is defined as someone who is led by the Spirit of God (Rom 8:14) - and all that that simple phrase really entails. (12.0 Mb)

Hearing God's Plan for the First Time
given Wales UK 9 Sept 2006
Something different between the most recent trip made to Africa in contrast to other trips, was the number of new people visited this time. Each of the 6 new groups seen were very different. For this reason each also needed a different approach - whether from Nigeria, Uganda or Kenya. (11.0 Mb)

What The True Church Will Be Like
broadcast 25 Apr 1979 - played Wales UK 9 Sept 2006
"Why is it, my friends, that you have not heard the true gospel of Jesus Christ, but rather a message of men, a gospel of men, about His person, but not the message that Christ Himself brought and preached? Now do you know that that message was not the message of Christ either -- so far as that was concerned -- it was not Christ's message at all. Actually it was the message of God the Father......"  (3.0 Mb)

Strength
given Peterborough Canada 2 Sept 2006
In our trials we are told not only that God will never leave or forsake us - but that He will nor test us above that which we are able to bear. The important thing to remember when going through such things, is the True source of strength we need. (2.0 Mb)

Living The BE Attitudes
given Peterborough Canada 2 Sept 2006
Carnal human beings either ignore God's Law - his Torah, or Way of Life - or attempt to keep it like a Pharisee. But Christ instructs that our righteousness must exceed that of a Pharisee (Matt 5:20). This is only possible when the administration we use is that of the Spirit and not the letter (2Cor 3:6) - an approach Jesus Christ explains in the beatitudes found in Matt 5 - vital attitudes that must BE in God's True Church today. (12.0 Mb)

Walking Before God
given Owerri Nigeria 26 August 2006
This sermon examines the command found within Matt 5 that we are to be perfect - as our Father in heaven is perfect - by showing the link between this passage and the command to Abraham - the father of the faithful. God commands Abraham in Gen 17:1 to "walk before Him" and be perfect. The sermon: looks at similar scriptures; shows how God is always with us; How God watches; and how God blesses.. (12.0 Mb)

Restored Doctrine Deception
given Bristol UK 19 August 2006
The 18 truths - originally published in the Worldwide News after Mr Armstrong died - were assumed to be something that originally came from him. But certain aspects were missing: The Identity of Babylon and her daughters; That Satan is the guilty party; And that we are to remain separate from the world. This sermonette shows how even in 1986, the direction the Church was taking was clearly directed off Track. (1.0 Mb)

Building The Temple
given Seattle USA 14 Feb 1981 played Wales UK 12 Aug 2006
This sermon does not just examine the fact that God is now building His Temple spiritually, prior to the return of Christ, but that Mr Armstrong personally was the one that God was (and is still today) using to do so. The sermon is particularly long (2h 15m). Although the audio quality is good throughout most of the file, our apologies for the fact that in two sections it is poor: the first 3 mins, and the last 20 mins. (21.0 Mb)

Born Again
broadcast 26 Apr 1979 - played Wales UK 5 Aug 2006
"Why is it -- let me ask once again, my friends -- that you have not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, but rather a false gospel -- a gospel that masquerades as the gospel of Jesus Christ, that which in fact is merely a gospel about His person and which represents Jesus Christ as a sort of smart-aleck young man who knew more than His Father and came to do away with His Father's law -- to knock it in the head, and to institute a new and different kind of religion. Now Jesus did not introduce any new and different kind of religion whatsoever. He did come to bring a message that the world had not understood or known, although it had been declared -- at least in its broad outline to the prophets of old....."  (3.0 Mb)

Catching The Vision
given Wales UK 29 July 2006
This sermon continues the aspects of "end time faith" examined last week, expanding on the specific fact that we need to view ourselves as strangers and pilgrims on the earth at present. It shows how a large part of doing this, involves "catching the vision" set before us by God. It examines: Faith and the vision; The vision found on the cogiw website; To plant the heavens; To lay the foundations of the earth; To say to Zion, "You are my people". (13.0 Mb)

Praying With Our Children
given Wales UK 29 July 2006
Prayer is vital for all of us - including our children. Establishing an early relationship with God will help them through life, and protect them from many evils as they grow up. But encouraging them in this direction takes diligence as a parent - something each of us as parents needs. (1.0 Mb)

End Time Faith
given Oswestry UK 22 July 2006
Christ asks the question in Matt 18 - when He returns, will he find faith on the earth? It is obviously a problem today, but why, and what can be done about it. This sermon goes through the first few verses of "the faith chapter" (Heb 11) and examines each verse in the light of the end time. Within Heb 11, there is a vital key revealed that each of us needs to apply in our own lives at this crucial point in history. (12.0 Mb)

Can You Prove It?
given Peterborough Canada 15 July 2006
All around us in the creation, there is the proof of God's existence to the open mind. The same is also true within scripture for those with the eyes to see. At this crucial time in history, such proof is vitally important - so that our confidence remains firmly placed in the True God, and nothing else is substituted. (1.0 Mb)

Companion - or Acquaintance?
given Peterborough Canada 15 July 2006
Are we mere acquaintances of each other? Or are we true spiritual companions? How far would we go for each other? Would we lay our lives on the line for our friends - as instructed by Christ in John 15:13 and as He did Himself - or do we fall short? The example of Paul is particularly valuable in examining this subject - both in his need for spiritual companions through his ministry, and in the way he was himself a spiritual companion to those with him in the Church. (10.0 Mb)

Food and Fellowship
given Bristol UK 8 July 2006
Our physical lives depend on the food we eat. But God has made the process very enjoyable - and something within scripture which is shown as a social occasion around a meal table. This can be seen historically, and also prophetically - even into our immortal lives after the resurrection. This sermon examines this fascinating subject. (6.0 Mb)

The Ark of the Covenant
given Bristol UK 8 July 2006
In Rev 11:19 there is a vision given of the Temple of God in heaven, and at its centre - the Ark of the Covenant. But why the Ark? What was it? What did it contain? What was it associated with? And where is it today? The answers to such questions have much to say to each of us at this present time. The beginning of Rev 11 describes this future Spiritual Temple - with the Ark at it's heart - as being measured and tested today just prior to the resurrection. Understanding the Ark therefore helps us to understand what criteria God uses for this testing. (7.0 Mb)

The Trunk of the Tree
given Oct 1983 - played Wales UK 1 July 2006
In this sermon, Mr Armstrong gives a complete overview - having just returned from the Feast - and lays out the Plan of God, revealed by Jesus Christ, that we all must hold onto as our foundation - the very Trunk of the Tree. He also states, God says, "Mark those that are causing division, and offenses, contrary to the doctrine that we've been taught through Christ, and avoid them." There are just two ways we can avoid them, one is that if we all get out, we leave the Church and leave them in. The other is if we put them out..... If only God's people had listened - and acted on this instruction - when Worldwide first began departing from the foundation Christ laid! (15.0 Mb)

“Just what is an APOSTLE?”
Just what is an Apostle?

Today we find the Church of God in a “wilderness of religious confusion!”

The confusion is not merely around the Church – within the religions of the world outside – but WITHIN the very heart of The True Church itself!
