UK - The UK was forced to rely on the French and German military last year to cover gaps in Britain’s defence budget, an MP claimed. After Russian submarines entered Scottish territory on multiple occasions the UK had to ask NATO allies to send 17 spy planes to hunt the submarines between January and November. As well as French and German military, aircraft from Norway, Canada and the US were also deployed to RAF Lossiemouth. The shortage of UK RAF planes comes after a decision made in 2010 to axe a fleet of Nimrod spy planes.
