USA - The House Judiciary Committee voted 23 to 17 along party lines on Friday to approve two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.
1.) Abuse of power
2.) Obstructing Congress
The Supreme Court granted the petition by President Trump’s legal team for a writ of certiorari. The high court confirmed it will hear cases related to the Democratic-controlled Congress’ attempts to gain the president’s financial records and tax filings.
President Trump’s attorneys had petitioned the Supreme Court after the House Financial Services and Intelligence Committees issued subpoenas to Deutsche Bank and Capital One seeking President Trump’s tax records. The Democrats on Friday morning accused President Trump of “obstruction of Congress.”
So on Friday night Harvard Attorney Alan Dershowitz released huge information, he told Sean Hannity that the decision by SCOTUS this afternoon pulled the rug out from the Democrats’ arguments. Professor Dershowitz: “… but think about what that message [from the court] is. Trump was right. You don’t have to comply with a subpoena from Congress unless the court tells you you have to comply…”
… they made it clear that’s a viable issue, so that charge, that ground of impeachment should be immediately removed by the House and not sent to the Senate. There’s nothing to it anymore after the Supreme Court today said, you’re entitled to review on an issue when the President challenges the subpoena power of Congress. All done. It’s over!
In a stunning reversal, yesterday’s decision makes Congressional Democrats guilty of the first article they charged President Trump with – abuse of power. This is truly what makes America so special – our system of government with checks and balances in action and upholding the constitution.
