Brussels threatens to tear itself apart

EUROPE - The European Union is in danger of a complete meltdown as leaders from across the bloc continue to clash over how to handle a potential summer migration crisis with an EU Commissioner sending warning shots over several governments’ positions. Nations are starting to rebel against Jean-Claude Juncker’s plans to include more funding for refugees in the EU’s next budget, mainly from Italy’s new coalition government of Lega and the Five Star Movement.

Financial CRASH WARNING

UK - A global financial crash could be just around the corner as red flags and early warning signs begin to present themselves, a top asset manager has predicted. Despite a generally positive outlook, illustrated by a global recovery, strong earnings and low unemployment in developed nations, disaster could be looming, Francesco Filia said.

Germany called out for stoking trade tensions with its 'fat' current account

GERMANY - Germany’s “fat” current account has been attacked by one of the world’s most influential economic bodies, and described as a trigger for the emergent trade war. The country has the world’s largest current account surplus of $287 billion (£214 billion), 8 percent of its GDP, and half that of China’s, according to the Institute for Economic Research. This is one of the most important measures in trade relations – because it shows that Germany sells far more than it buys from other countries.

Lagarde Sees Darker Clouds Over World Economy

USA - IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde said the risks to the global economy are rising as major industrial nations sharpen threats of a trade war. “The clouds on the horizon that we have signaled about six months ago are getting darker by the day - and, I was going to say, by the weekend,” Lagarde said at a news conference in Berlin on Monday. Her remarks follow a chaotic two-day meeting of the Group of Seven in which President Donald Trump shocked fellow leaders with his disregard for US allies. Lagarde’s concerns were echoed by World Trade Organization Director-General Roberto Azevedo, who said growing trade frictions could cause serious damage to the world economy.

Seeds of discord?

USA - The US President Donald Trump’s proposal to bring Russia back into the G7 has seemingly unnerved the German authorities. Such a move would only sow further discord within the EU, a German Foreign Ministry official said. Meanwhile, Moscow has been in no rush to “rejoin” the format – which is actually an informal club of some of the world's leading economies. It is not based on any treaty and does not have any formal membership. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia “has not left” the G8, while speaking to press in China after the Sunday meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) – a group that he pointed out was more powerful in size, with all its economies combined, than the G7.

Going bigger, coming closer: SCO’s Qingdao summit

CHINA - In a robust show of unity, leaders of eight SCO member states, including Russia and China, arrived for a get-together to talk security and trade, and hail expansion of the bloc – in sharp contrast with the calamitous G7 meeting.

Trump & Kim sign ‘historic’ document

SINGAPORE - North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump have signed a “historic” document that would lead to “major change,” they announced at a joint news conference after their first face-to-face meeting in Singapore. The contents of the document have not been disclosed so far, but Trump said that he will hold a press conference on the matter later in the day.

Trump BACKS OUT of G7 agreement

EUROPE - President Donald Trump has stunned world leaders by rejecting a joint statement that traditionally follows the G7, and has escalated his feud with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau by calling him 'dishonest and weak'.

Donald Trump 'tired of Theresa May's school mistress tone’

USA - Donald Trump has grown frustrated with Theresa May’s “school mistress” tone, allies of the president have told The Telegraph, as it emerged the pair will not hold formal talks at the G7 summit in Canada. The US president is said to bristle at the Prime Minister’s approach during phone calls, with Mrs May quick to get into policy details rather than wider conversation. One senior US diplomat said Mr Trump had expressed annoyance at Mrs May’s frequent demands, which are seen as taking advantage of the UK-US relationship. Another long-time friend of the president revealed he had privately complained of how Mrs May calls him out in public when he is deemed to have stepped out of line.

EU is weakest world power

EUROPE - The European Union is so poorly prepared for the challenges of the modern world that it may not exist in 10 years time, a leading British historian claimed. British historian and political commentator Niall Ferguson envisaged an apocalyptic future for the EU, drawing a similarity with the Holy Roman Empire. Analysing how the bloc has so far dealt with crises and considering the ones that loom over it, he predicted the union will be soon invested by a life-threatening emergency. He said: "For Brussels, it could be tight in the next 10 years.” During this decade, the historian believes the future of the EU will be decided. But according to his analysis, Europe is too poorly prepared for the imminent challenges of the coming years to survive. He said: "The EU is the weakest of the great powers.”

Netanyahu offers to help Iranians overcome water crisis

ISRAEL - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has suddenly vowed to help the Iranian people combat drought by creating a website in Farsi on Tel Aviv’s know-how. It did not stop him from verbally attacking Tehran once again, though. In a video address published on his official YouTube channel, Netanyahu announced that Israel has created a special website in Farsi dedicated to projects related to water resources management, water conservation and other issues such as irrigation for the Iranians to learn from it. Israel’s prime minister openly boasted that his country developed “cutting-edge technologies” in the field, and it “recycles nearly 90 percent of its waste water.”

Internet scams we're still falling for in 2018

USA - It just never ends. No matter how much publicity these scams get, no matter how many years old the internet is, people still hand over their money to scammers. It doesn’t matter how old you are; last year, in fact, more consumers age 20 to 29 reported losing money to fraud than the over-70 crowd did. So how can you defend yourself? The usual advice goes like this: Whenever you get any kind of email from a financial or commercial institution, do not click the link in the email. If the email comes from a company, open your web browser and type in the company’s address yourself (www.citibank.com or whatever). You’ll discover, of course, that there’s nothing wrong with your account.

2 Major Volcanoes In North America on Yellow Alert

USA - Massive eruptions of Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano and Guatemala’s Fuego volcano have captivated the entire world in recent days, and now it looks like even more volcanoes are starting to wake up.  In fact, yellow alerts were just issued for Mexico’s Mount Popocatepetl and Alaska’s Great Sitkin volcano.

Google’s internal handbook instructions

USA - Google should no longer be considered a search engine, a place where you can freely lookup information. Google does not truly honor your search terms and does not provide honest results from around the World Wide Web. According to the Google handbook, Google reserves the right to de-list pages “that directly contradict well established scientific or medical consensus for queries seeking scientific or medical information, unless the query indicates the user is seeking an alternative viewpoint.”

The Latest: Trump tweeting

USA - Trump was traveling from North America to Asia when he withdrew from a Group of Seven economic statement and insulted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as "dishonest" and "weak." In a series of tweets from Singapore, Trump kept up the tirade while contending that "Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal."

Today we find the Church of God in a “wilderness of religious confusion!”

The confusion is not merely around the Church – within the religions of the world outside – but WITHIN the very heart of The True Church itself!
