USA - On Tuesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Senator Rand Paul (Republican for Kentucky) argued against President Trump’s tariff proposal and stated, “the United States will lose in a trade war.” Rand said, “[A] tariff is a tax, and typically Republicans, conservatives, have not been for more taxes. So, I’m against new tariffs. They’re simply a tax on the consumer.” He added that President Trump’s tariff proposal is “the wrong thing to do. If you look at steel use in our country, there are 60 people purchasing steel for every person making steel in the country. So, there’s a lot of people who purchase steel that are going to be hurt by this. My state alone exports $20 billion worth of products, including a lot of farm and agricultural products. And if there’s a trade war, we stand to lose in a big way. And really, the United States will lose in a trade war.”
EUROPE - Brussels is set to hit back at Donald Trump's steel tariffs by hiking charges on a vast array of exports to the US - including the kitchen sink. The US President has fired off the first salvos of a trade war by laying out plans to impose tariffs on goods heading for America, even from the country's closest allies. Theresa May has joined political leaders from around the world to urge the US President not to go ahead with his protectionist plan
GERMANY - The German government wants to expand and adapt its foreign military missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Mali, Angela Merkel's Cabinet agreed on Wednesday. The German parliament will have the final say, as it does on all of Germany's military operations. Not everyone backs the move.
IRAN - Air Force chief slams West's 'hypocrisy' in trying to contain Tehran's military aspirations. A senior Iranian military official said his country has tripled its missile production, amid efforts by the international community to curb it. Speaking at his military headquarters, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Aerospace Force, also slammed the world powers, including Israel, for their “hypocrisy” in trying to contain Iran’s military aspirations and limit its missile production, Iran’s Fars news agency reported Wednesday. “In the past we had to explain our actions to various bodies, but not any more,” he said.

USA - In recent weeks, we have witnessed an unprecedented social media crackdown on conservative voices. YouTube’s war with Alex Jones has gotten the most attention, but literally hundreds of conservative content creators have had their accounts penalized, suspended or deleted by YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other social media giants. There appears to be a coordinated effort to target conservative viewpoints, because similar voices on the left are not receiving equal treatment.

GERMANY - German equality czar pens gender neutral anthem wants to remove words like “fatherland” and “brotherly” from the country’s national anthem, following Canada and Austria in adopting gender neutral phrases. Kristin Rose-Moehring, equality commissioner since 2001, made the proposal to strike male-specific references from the anthem in a letter to staff at Germany’s family ministry ahead of International Women’s Day, German media reported on Sunday.

Several Democrats actually walked out during the speech and then demanded a recess to calm down because the truth just hurt that badly.

It is all about what the authorities in Beijing call “social credit”, and the kind of surveillance that is now within governments’ grasp. The official rhetoric is poetic. PHILIPPINES - A new migrant crisis could emerge from the result of the next devastating volcanic eruption scientists have warned as they claimed “cities could be erased” by the powerful natural force. A team of volcanologists from the Philippines stated a volcanic eruption that measures at seven on the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) scale could cause severe damage. If cities are wiped out, a frightening mass migrant crisis could ensue. “Any town or city in the path would be destroyed, and death tolls could reach millions unless mass evacuations had been made. Given the incredibly complex logistics of food, water, health care, and other supplies in an urban area, imagine the logistical nightmare if transport within any large city were stopped even for a week or two.”
JAPAN - Japan’s Shinmoedake volcano has awoken to spew a huge pillar of ash and smoke into the air as residents are advised to be aware of flying rocks after an alert level three warning was issued. The 4,600-foot high Shinmoedake volcano began erupting this month. Volcanic activity began on March 1 on a smaller scale but today the volcano spewed a huge ash cloud thousands of feet into the air. Japan has 110 active volcanoes and monitors 47 of them around the clock.
MONTSERRAT - Montserrat’s deadly volcano is showing signs of intense activity deep underground though no lava has breached the ground just yet. Is this is a sign the volcano is preparing for eruption? Montserrat’s Soufrière Hills volcano, the ‘Pompei of the Caribbean’, was rumbled by a “swarm” of five volcanic-tectonic earthquakes last week, sparking fears of eruption…. volcanologists monitoring the volcano have noted increased volcanic stirring underneath Montserrat. Using GPS data from the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO), a group of scientists have now determined up to 35 cubic feet of magma is building up beneath the island every seven seconds.
