USA - A Disney XD show subtly displayed several gay kisses on an episode that aired yesterday. The Star vs the Forces of Evil episode featured a scene at a boy band concert, where several people, including gay and lesbian couples, kiss to the music. Though this is the first on-screen same-sex PDA, Disney has periodically included non-heterosexual relationships in its TV shows, including a lesbian couple in Good Luck Charlie and a gay couple in Gravity Falls. Disney has also been under pressure to portray openly gay relationships in its TV shows and movies.

GERMANY - Billionaire and founder of Microsoft Bill Gates briefed world leaders and others at the Munich Security Conference last Saturday on emerging megatrends which Gates said could lead to the demise of the human race. Gates told Vice President Michael Pence and other attendees that bioterrorism would be far more deadly than a nuclear war by comparison. “The next epidemic could originate on the computer screen of a terrorist intent on using genetic engineering to create a synthetic version of the smallpox virus, or a super contagious and deadly strain of the flu,” Gates told officials. “Getting ready for a global pandemic is every bit as important as nuclear deterrence and avoiding a climate catastrophe.”
USA - The United States has become a major exporter of crude oil since President Trump took office, sending a record 7 billion barrels into the world market last week. Like all of President Trump’s campaign promises, his plan to create “complete American energy independence” and ban Saudi Arabian oil from the US market is being fulfilled ahead of schedule. During the election campaign Trump vowed to secure US energy independence from “our foes and the oil cartels,” and predictably the Saudis, major donors to the Clinton campaign, were not happy with this plan.
MEXICO - The Mexican government is pushing to rapidly modernize its free trade agreement with the EU and has declared its "close affinity" to Germany, following US President Trump's threats of massive reprisals by building a wall at the border and imposing punitive tariffs. Because of its extreme dependence on the USA, Mexico can only hold its ground by intensifying its relations with other countries, according to Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray. Mexico's enticements are greeted with sympathy by German business circles. The majority of German firms active in Mexico had already decided on new investments and are planning to carry these out, despite expected disadvantages from the projected US trade policy. Experts assume that the US administration cannot afford excessive punitive tariffs or other exorbitant escalations.
