And what the Cass Freight Index is telling us about the state of the US economy in 2016 lines up perfectly with all of the other statistics that are clearly indicating that we have now shifted into recession mode. The total amount of stuff that is being bought, sold and shipped around the country by all these various methods has now been declining for 15 months in a row. If it was just one or two months you could say that it was just an anomaly, but how in the world can anyone explain away 15 consecutive months?

Not only that, but the brand new number that just came out for May 2016 is the lowest number that we have seen for the month of May in 6 years. Of course the number for April was the lowest number that we have seen for that month in 6 years too, and the number for March was also the lowest number that we have seen for that month in 6 years. Are you starting to get the picture?

UKIP leader Nigel Farage hailed it as the UK's "independence day" but the Remain camp called it a "catastrophe". The pound fell to its lowest level against the dollar since 1985 as the markets reacted to the results. UKIP leader Nigel Farage - who has campaigned for the past 20 years for Britain to leave the EU - told cheering supporters "this will be a victory for ordinary people, for decent people".

Mr Farage - who predicted a Remain win at the start of the night after polls suggested that would happen - said Thursday 23 June would "go down in history as our independence day". He called on Prime Minister David Cameron, who called the referendum but campaigned passionately for a Remain vote, to quit "immediately".

Labour former Europe Minister Keith Vaz told the BBC the British people had voted with their "emotions" and rejected the advice of experts who had warned about the economic impact of leaving the EU. He said the EU should call an emergency summit to deal with the aftermath of the vote, which he described as "catastrophic for our country, for the rest of Europe and for the rest of the world".

Germany's foreign minister Frank Walter Steinmeier described the referendum result as as "a sad day for Europe and Great Britain". But Leave supporting Tory MP Liam Fox said voters had shown great "courage" by deciding to "change the course of history" for the UK and, he hoped, the rest of Europe. And he called for a "period of calm, a period of reflection, to let it all sink in and to work through what the actual technicalities are," insisting that Mr Cameron must stay on as PM.

Britain would be the first country to leave the EU since its formation - but a leave vote will not immediately mean Britain ceases to be a member of the 28-nation bloc. That process could take a minimum of two years, with Leave campaigners suggesting during the referendum campaign that it should not be completed until 2020 - the date of the next scheduled general election.

He then assured markets and investors around the world that Great Britain's economy will remain strong, and promised UK citizens abroad, as well as EU nationals in Britain, that they will not face any immediate change.

Cameron continued by speaking about his accomplishments and plans for the future. "I am very proud to have been Prime Minister of this country for six years. I have held nothing back." However, he acknowledged that "I think the country requires fresh leadership. I do not think I can be the captain to take the country to its next destination. In my view I think we should have a new prime minister in place by the start of the Conservative conference in October."

Asian stocks dropped by the most in five years. Japan's Nikkei index closed over 8 percent in the red. China's Shanghai composite was down almost 1 percent and Hong Kong's Hang Seng was losing over 4 percent before the closing bell. Futures on the FTSE 100 Index plunged before the start of trade in London. US S&P 500 Index contracts are deep in the red. “Investors are just trying to get out. You sell first and ask questions later.”

“There was a massive miscalculation of risk and now you're seeing all that unwind,” head of investment strategy at Perpetual Ltd in Sydney, Matthew Sherwood, told Bloomberg. Oil fell below $48 per barrel. Gold soared along with US Treasuries as panicked investors sought safe haven from the markets.

“All hell is breaking loose,” Bloomberg quotes Vishnu Varathan, a senior economist in Singapore at Mizuho Bank Ltd as saying. “The only sure [thing] is you buy yen, you buy US Treasuries, you buy gold, you sit tight.”

The German politician said: "Even if the majority votes to remain, we will not be able to just go on like this. Otherwise people will say 'you still didn't get it'. Nothing is self-evident and nothing is so secure that it cannot be endangered." But Mr Schäuble didn't give any details on how the 28-country European club should reform.

The experienced politician admitted "Europe is not in a good state" and that Germany's economy would suffer "considerably" should UK voters decide to leave the EU. Earlier this month Mr Schäuble warned of a domino effect in the EU of other member states leaving if the UK decides to quit.

The minister said he could not ignore the possibility that other countries might seek the exit door if Britons vote to leave tomorrow. Mr Schäuble said: "You can't rule it out. How - for example - would the Netherlands, which has traditionally been very closely allied with Britain, react?" Mr Schäuble has previously said the EU would be able to survive if only Britain left - but would be pushed over the edge if any more countries decided to opt out.

“Sure enough this means that a country like Germany, which today spends around 1.2 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) on defense, and the United States, which spends 3.4 percent of GDP for defense will have to converge,” Merkel said. The chancellor maintained it would be no good in the long run if Germany expected others to bear the burden of defense.

In 2015, EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker called for the creation of a united European army, which he said would be aimed at “deterring” Russia and strengthening the alliance. “With its own army, Europe could react more credibly to the threat to peace in a member state or in a neighboring state,” he said, adding that “a common European army would convey a clear message to Russia that we are serious about defending our European values.”

This comes despite the Prime Minster and Chancellor’s relentless insistence that leaving the bloc will damage Britain’s trade prospects with other EU countries. Mr Kerber said: “Imposing trade barriers, imposing protectionist measures between our two countries or between the two political centres, the EU on the one hand and the UK on the other, would be a very, very foolish thing in the 21st Century.

“The BDI would urge politicians on both sides to come up with a trade regime that enables us to uphold and maintain the levels of trade we have.” Boris Johnson agreed with the dismissal and claimed EU countries would be “desperate” to trade with Britain if it severs ties with Brussels.

He said: “After the incessant doom-mongering of the In campaign, we now hear the truth from the ‘voice of German industry’, they would be desperate for free trade after we vote Leave. They would be damaging their own commercial interests if they didn’t. That’s why EU politicians would be banging down the door for a trade deal on Friday.”

Former cabinet minister and longtime Eurosceptic MP John Redwood has also joined in with claims that Cameron and Osborne are misleading the British public. He said: “They know they sell twice as many goods to us as we do to them. Who is going to want to wreck that?”

But a politicized public health system, and a rise in the subsidized migration into the United States, however, have combined to reverse a century of progress.

A physicist claims you will soon be able to go to loved ones for advice even after they die by keeping them alive through virtual reality. Dr Michio Kaku says technology will be available for people to download their personality to computer to create an avatar of themselves before they die.

The theory is the avatar will include that person’s memories and personality, and through artificial intelligence, people will be able to continue to communicate as they would have done in real-life. The avatar would be activated once a person was dead and would include a visual perception of the person that would be able to speak to relatives who are still alive.

In the future it could even be beamed from the computer as a hologram, or even in a physical three dimensional format as a robot that could interact with you. Dr Kaku said: “Imagine being able to speak to your loved one after they died, but it is possible if their personality has been downloaded onto computer as an avatar. You would be able to communicate with them as if they were still here. They would, in effect, become immortal.”

Google is not the only company suppressing content on the internet. Reddit has frequently been accused of banning postings on specific topics, and a recent report suggests that Facebook has been deleting conservative news stories from its newsfeed, a practice that might have a significant effect on public opinion – even on voting. Google, though, is currently the biggest bully on the block.

When Google's employees or algorithms decide to block our access to information about a news item, political candidate or business, opinions and votes can shift, reputations can be ruined and businesses can crash and burn. Because online censorship is entirely unregulated at the moment, victims have little or no recourse when they have been harmed.

Eventually, authorities will almost certainly have to step in, just as they did when credit bureaus were regulated in 1970. The alternative would be to allow a large corporation to wield an especially destructive kind of power that should be exercised with great restraint and should belong only to the public: the power to shame or exclude.

If Google were just another mom-and-pop shop with a sign saying "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone," that would be one thing. But as the golden gateway to all knowledge, Google has rapidly become an essential in people's lives – nearly as essential as air or water. We don't let public utilities make arbitrary and secretive decisions about denying people services; we shouldn't let Google do so either.
