USA - Want to deposit cash at JPMorgan Chase? Then prepare to be treated if not like a criminal, then certainly a suspect of a very serious crime. The charge: being in possession of that “barbarous relic” known as cash. Soon, as cash becomes increasingly frowned upon, cash deposits will be slowly but surely phased out in their entirety forcing those few savers left in Obama’s grand economic “recovery” experiment, to engage in commerce only in a way that allows the government to keep track of every single transaction.
GERMANY - The German Catholic Church called for a reduction in the influx of refugees arriving in Germany, saying the country cannot take in "all the world's needy," according to an interview published Saturday. Germany has been struggling to cope with 1.1 million asylum seekers that arrived in 2015 and Berlin has not yet given an official estimate for how many it expects this year.

GERMANY - Horst Seehofer, the premier of the state of Bavaria, a nominal partner in Angela Merkel’s coalition, and a persistent thorn in her side, has called for a sea change in diplomatic dealings with Russia, following his trip to Moscow. “Extending anti-Russia sanctions was a mistake,” said Seehofer, referring to the EU’s decision to prolong travel restrictions and economic embargoes against Russian individuals and companies over Ukraine late last year. “We need to consider the reality – they cannot be removed straight away. But we can deploy political means to repeal them… I think that they can be revoked in the foreseeable future.”

SAUDI ARABIA - Saudi Arabia expressed its readiness to send ground troops to Syria if the US-led coalition decided that such an operation is necessary, an adviser to the Saudi defense minister said. "The kingdom is ready to participate in any ground operations that the coalition [against Islamic State] may agree to carry out in Syria," Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri, who is also the spokesman for the Saudi-led Arab coalition in Yemen, told al-Arabiya. According to Asseri, Saudi Arabia has been an active member of the US-led coalition since the country’s warplanes carried out more than 190 aerial missions against Islamic State targets. Over the course of the operation, US President Barack Obama has repeatedly stated that there will be no US boots on the ground in Syria.
JAPAN - A Japanese volcano about 50 km (30 miles) from a nuclear plant erupted on Friday, shooting ash nearly 2 km into the night sky along with fountains of lava, but there were no immediate reports of damage and operations at the power station were not affected. Following what they termed an "explosive eruption," Japan's Meteorological Agency raised the warning level on the peak, which experiences hundreds of small eruptions a year, to 3, meaning that people should not approach the mountain. "It appears that stones have been thrown about 2 km from the crater, but this area is quite far from any communities," Kazuhiro Ishihara, an emeritus professor at Kyoto University, told NHK national television.
TAIWAN - At least five people have died including a ten-day-old baby after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan in the early hours of this morning, causing a 17-storey apartment building to collapse.
USA - If there was one word which could describe President Obama’s Presidency it would be anti-Christian. From declaring that the United States is no longer a Christian nation to denying Syrian Christians entry into the country President Obama’s distaste for the followers of Jesus are as obvious as the nose on your face. But with less than a year left in his Presidency Obama hasn’t given up on dissing Christians at every opportunity.
USA – [President] Barack Obama visited the controversial Islamic Center of Maryland on Wednesday. The president attacked Donald Trump’s plan to impose a temporary ban on Muslims entering the US. Tonight Trump responded to Obama’s mosque visit. “We have a lot of problems in this country,” Trump said on Fox News Wednesday. “We have a lot of places he can go and he chose a mosque. Maybe he feels comfortable there,” Trump added.
USA - Congressmen, President Barack Obama and faith leaders from around the country met for the annual prayer breakfast in Washington, DC on Thursday. At the breakfast, House Minority Leader Democrat Nancy Pelosi took the opportunity to invoke “the prophet Muhammad.”
FINLAND - A gang of vigilantes led by a violent neo-Nazi go on night time ‘migrant patrols’ on the streets of Finland, with some talking of ‘ethnic cleansing’ in the wake of the country’s mounting immigration crisis. The self-styled 'Soldiers of Odin' march in a mob, wearing bomber jackets with their logo on the back. They have vowed to take direct action to ‘protect their wives, girlfriends and children’ after a migrant influx to the liberal Scandinavian country. The gang – which claims to have cells across Europe – says it mobilised after a rise in migrant-related crime over the past 12 months because the Finnish government has ‘screwed everything up’. Ari Kuronen, director of the Joensuu Red Cross refugee shelter, is deeply concerned. ‘There are only two possible results. Either they will stop patrolling, or there will be dangerous battles in the street. At the moment, nobody knows which way it will go.’
ZIMBABWE - Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has declared a state of disaster in rural parts of the country hit by a drought. An estimated 2.4 million people are now in need of food aid, more than a quarter of the population. The announcement comes days after the EU urged Mr Mugabe to declare a state of disaster so donors can raise money quickly to provide food aid. The government has urged Zimbabweans not to panic, as it is importing maize from neighbouring Zambia. The United Nations World Food Programme has said some 14 million people face hunger in southern Africa because of a drought that has been exacerbated by the El Nino weather phenomenon. South Africa, Namibia and Botswana have also been badly hit.
