USA - One of the central premises of Cultural Marxism is the division of society into classes of oppressors and oppressed (be it whites versus non-whites, poor versus rich, etc) and thereby fomenting tensions between these segments, which the Left then leverages to push the radical changes they desire. The feminist movement is one of the most prominent varieties of Cultural Marxism; it destroys the interdependent and complementary partnership that naturally exists between men and women, replacing it with an enmity — positing that women are victims who must be delivered from the evils of patriarchy.
EUROPE - The EU Parliament on Wednesday approved a regulation called the Artificial Intelligence Act aimed at ensuring the fast-changing technology remains safe and in compliance with fundamental human rights but also boosts innovation. The regulation, agreed in negotiations with member states this past December, was endorsed by MEPs with 523 votes in favor, 46 against, and 49 abstentions, according to a press release on the parliament’s website. “Europe is NOW a global standard-setter in AI,” Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for the internal market, wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "We are regulating as little as possible — but as much as needed!"
USA - Raw sewage and runoff in the Tijuana River is exposing communities at the US-Mexico border to an unusual and noxious brew of pathogens and toxic chemicals, according to a report released this week. Billions of gallons of sewage flow through the river, which winds north from Mexico through California and empties into the Pacific Ocean, containing a mix of carcinogenic chemicals including arsenic, as well as viruses, bacteria and parasites, according to public health researchers at San Diego State University, who published the report. ‘You can taste it’: El Paso residents fear air pollution will worsen after border crossing upgrade. The researchers have called the situation “a pressing public health crisis”.
BRAZIL - The Bailique Archipelago, which sits at the crossroads of the Amazon River and the Atlantic Ocean, and saltwater intrusion — when salty seawater pushes upstream into freshwater — is a natural phenomenon. More frequent saltwater intrusion is making it harder for residents to gather potable water for their drinking and cooking needs, and many have turned to catching rainwater. It's also making the archipelago's main economic crop, açaí berries, salty in flavor. Meanwhile, erosion caused by changes to the Amazon's flow is destroying palm trees. While thousands of people have already fled the region, others, like boat pilot Aurélio Marques, struggle to adapt, according to Mongabay.
UK - Children will no longer be prescribed puberty blockers at gender identity clinics, NHS bosses announced today. Ministers hailed the landmark ruling, arguing it would help ensure care is based on evidence and is in the 'best interests of the child'. The powerful body-altering hormones, which can permanently weaken bones, will now only be available to children as part of clinical research trials. Puberty blockers are, however, still available, prescribed privately 'off-label' by some medics at non-NHS-based gender clinics. Former Prime Minister Liz Truss welcomed the move and urged the Government to back her own amendment to widen the ban to private clinics.
UK - There’s a lot of discussion nowadays about Britain’s history of involvement in slavery. Indeed there was a lot of actual, formal slavery here in Roman times and the Dark Ages, mostly imposed by white people on other white people. That gradually mutated into feudalism and so then into “freedom” for people living in England itself no matter what their skin colour: but nobody is very interested in that. The British (and other European/American traders) did not enslave the Africans: that was done by other Africans. African kings would typically sell off prisoners they had taken in wars or purposeful slave-taking raids against other nations.
USA - Taken from the Washington Post: AI and the boom in clean-tech manufacturing are pushing America’s power grid to the brink. Utilities can’t keep up. Vast swaths of the United States are at risk of running short of power as electricity-hungry data centers and clean-technology factories proliferate around the country, leaving utilities and regulators grasping for credible plans to expand the nation’s creaking power grid. The soaring demand is touching off a scramble to try to squeeze more juice out of an ageing power grid while pushing commercial customers to go to extraordinary lengths to lock down energy sources, such as building their own power plants.
USA - Illegal aliens in California will now be given interest-free mortgages so that they can become home owners and jump ahead of working class US citizens in the socioeconomic system. Assembly Bill (AB) 1840 will let “undocumented persons” receive the same kind of homebuyer assistance as US citizens by making them eligible for the California Dream for All Fund, which provides interest-free loans for a down payment on a home for first-time buyers.
USA - The city of Chicago has become a time bomb, and it is a prime example of a very disturbing trend that is happening all over America. Criminal gangs are thriving in most of our major urban areas, and Joe Biden’s open border policies are greatly fueling their growth. With each passing day, more deeply impoverished young migrants pour into our cities, and many of them are quickly recruited by gangs. It would be difficult for me to overstate the seriousness of this crisis, but it is largely being ignored by the mainstream media.
QATAR - According to a report in the Wall Street Journal on Saturday, Qatar has issued an ultimatum to senior Hamas leadership – reach a hostage deal or face expulsion. Qatar, which has given millions of dollars in aid to Gaza and hosts several top Hamas leaders, has become a critical part of negotiations, especially as the US attempts to reach a hostage deal before the beginning of Ramadan. Hostage negotiations have been stalled in recent weeks after neither Hamas nor Israel appears willing to make any concessions. Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency recently accused Hamas of wanting to inflame the region during Ramadan, saying it is not interested in a hostage deal.
USA - A lot of people are really confused about the state of the US economy right now. Large employers are conducting mass layoffs all over the country, and those that are searching for work are having a very difficult time. But meanwhile, the Biden administration and the mainstream media continue to insist that the unemployment rate is low and everything is just fine. So what can account for such incongruity? According to Challenger, Gray & Christmas we just witnessed the highest number of layoffs during the month of February since the Great Recession…When an adult is not working, they are classified as either “unemployed” or “not in the labor force”.
USA - Most physicians like myself can make a comfortable living caring for the sick. But if you really want to make big bucks, the way to do so is to convince healthy people that there is something wrong with them. Convince women that their breasts are too small, or their rear ends are misshaped. Convince men that their noses are too big. The latest market is to convince people that they were born the wrong gender. This of course is silly. If you have XY chromosomes you are a male and if you have XX chromosomes, you are a female. This applies not only to humans but to the entire mammalian kingdom.
USA - Tyson Foods, the connoisseurs of processed chicken delights, have shockingly announced a dalliance with Protix, a company that specializes in insect ingredients. It seems our beloved chicken overlords are spreading their wings into the world of bugs. In a move that promises to revolutionize the processed food industry, Tyson Foods has entered into a peculiar pact with Protix. This unholy alliance aims to propel the growth of the emerging insect ingredient sector. Brace yourselves, for soon, your favorite store-bought treats might come with an unexpected crunch.
USA - World Obesity Day was marked this week and, with over a billion people afflicted worldwide, obesity is now considered more dangerous to global health than hunger. The numbers are staggering. Sometime in the mid-20th century a cameraman captured an unforgettable black-and-white photo depicting thousands of American sunworshippers crowded onto Coney Island, New York City. What is most conspicuous about the iconic photograph, aside from the sheer number of beachgoers, is the lack of excessive cellulite packed into the assorted bathing suits and bikinis. Sadly and not a little tragically, those halcyon days are over.
USA - American billionaires are selling stocks by the boatload - sparking fears of an impending financial disaster. Jeff Bezos - the third-richest man behind Louis Vuitton's Bernard Arnaut and Elon Musk - unloaded $8.5 billion in Amazon shares this month alone. Mark Zuckerberg - the fourth-richest - sold about 1.4 million Meta shares worth roughly $638 million. Jamie Dimon, chairman and CEO of JPMorgan, shilled $150 million this past week, in his first cash-out since taking the reins at the bank nearly two decades ago. Within days, Apollo Global Management's Leon Black also enacted his first-ever sale, shedding $172.8 million in his equity firm after 34 years. Walmart's Walton family sold $1.5 billion in a week, bringing its total sale proceeds to $2.3 billion since December.
