USA - EVs were more popular than gas cars a century ago, but they couldn’t avoid this big problem “…There is no new thing under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9. So it is with electric vehicles. EVs gained popularity some 120 years ago but range, lack of infrastructure, and purchase price stifled them. But in 1899 there were more electric vehicles recorded in the US than gasoline-powered, 1,575 vs. 936, according to Quartz.
CHINA - China and Saudi Arabia have warned against any further escalation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and called for a peaceful settlement. Riyadh and Beijing also reiterated their policies on mitigating the humanitarian crisis. In a joint statement following a summit between Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday, the two sides “stressed the importance of resolving the [Ukraine] conflict by peaceful means.”
USA - Why you should be worried about the split in the Methodist Church. Last weekend, over 400 Methodist churches in Texas voted to leave their parent denomination, the United Methodist Church (UMC). Their decision followed the mass exodus of Methodist congregations in other Southern states, including North Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, Arkansas and Florida. The departing congregations joined the more conservative Global Methodist Church over concerns that the UMC has grown too liberal on key cultural issues — most importantly, LGBTQ rights.
USA - A destructive winter storm hit the US on Wednesday, hours after a series of fatal tornadoes touched down in the south of the country. The turbulent weather could cause Texans to go without power this Christmas if the arctic blast continues on its path. Texas will be subject to much colder than normal temperatures over the Christmas period, which could "test" the Texan power grid, a meteorologist has warned.
USA - The nation's largest water supplier has declared a drought emergency for all of Southern California in response to the extremely dry weather conditions across the region. The decision paves the way for potential mandatory water restrictions early next year that could impact 19 million people. The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California provides water to 26 different agencies that supply major population centres like Los Angeles and San Diego counties.
USA - Almost every aspect of the satanic NWO [New World Order] agenda depends on the smartphone and our voluntary use of it. Be it the planned Certificate Of Vaccination ID (COVID) (for restricted mobility), central bank digital currencies (to abolish anonymous cash payments), social credit score (for behavioural monitoring), carbon footprint or personal data like driving license, fingerprints, travel documents, digital ID, all the control data is and will be centralized and saved on the smartphone.
GERMANY - “We are the people! We are the people!” Replete with boos, cheers, a brass band, and even a puppet show, this weekly gathering in the small eastern German city of Zittau could be easily mistaken for a pantomime performance. But the messages and ideas spread at the cobbled square in front of city hall are deadly serious: flags of far-right groups dot the scene as speakers rile up a crowd of 600.
GERMANY - The ghosts of German history are returning — and the profound question in European history: Where are the borders of Germany? Poland announced in October that it wants to start negotiations with Germany on reparations during World War II, and the Polish foreign ministry sent an official note to Berlin demanding around €1.3 trillion in damages to address the effects of Nazi Germany’s occupation of Poland from 1939 to 1945. To be sure, an assertive Germany will be a matter of disquiet for West Europe, especially France and Italy.
INDIA - Beijing has been accused of trying to “unilaterally” change the status quo on the disputed Himalayan border between India and China, according to a statement by India’s defense ministry on Tuesday. Indian and Chinese troops clashed in the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh last week, marking the first altercation between the two nuclear-armed powers in nearly two years. New Delhi said soldiers from both sides sustained only minor injuries. AFP reported at least six Indian soldiers were injured in the scuffle.
CHINA - China sent a record 18 nuclear-capable bombers into Taiwan's air defence zone, Taipei said on Tuesday (December 13), just days after Beijing banned more Taiwanese imports in the latest sign of deteriorating ties. Democratic Taiwan lives under the constant threat of invasion by China, which sees the self-ruled island as part of its territory to be seized one day.
INDONESIA - The G20, a group of 19 nations — including the US — plus the European Union, recently held their annual business meeting (B20) in Bali, Indonesia, where they declared that a digital vaccine passport, standardized by the World Health Organization, will be part of international pandemic prevention and response moving forward. The rule for standardized international vaccine passports will be introduced as a revision to the international health regulations during the next World Health Assembly in Geneva.
UK - In recent years, public bodies have frittered away £7 billion of our hard-earned money on workplace wokery. It ranges from daft stunts like African drumming sessions to frankly sinister brainwashing seminars on 'unlearning whiteness'. One million working days in the Civil Service alone are wasted every year on politically motivated 'equality, diversity and inclusivity' training. Staff at the publicly funded Intellectual Property Office spent 24 days playing a specially designed 'Respect At Work' board game — which sounds a bit like Monopoly for Guardian readers. 'Declare your pronouns or go directly to Jail.'
USA - According to one of the largest investment firms in the world, the economic outlook for the US and the world is not good for 2023. Blackrock says a global recession is coming. A worldwide recession is just around the corner as central banks boost borrowing costs aggressively to tame inflation — and this time, it will ignite more market turbulence than ever before, according to BlackRock.
USA - North Carolina Treasurer Dale Folwell sent a bombshell letter to asset manager BlackRock, saying its CEO, Larry Fink, needs to “resign or be removed” from the firm’s leadership team “immediately” over his obsession with pursuing a leftist “political agenda.” Folwell is the first state treasurer to call for Fink to “resign or be removed,” while others have withdrawn their state’s proxy votes and divested state funds from BlackRock.
USA - A retired Navy SEAL who made headlines after transitioning from a man to a woman has now decided to switch back to the sex of his birth after slamming trans activists he says 'took advantage' of him. Kristin Beck, 55, is now detransitioning and reverting to his previous name Chris Beck - as he realized his sex change was 'the worst mistake' of his life after being given hormones following a one-hour consultation. He came out as trans in an interview with Anderson Cooper in 2013. Beck underwent grueling facial feminization surgery, but stopped short of a full gender reassignment that would have switched his male genitalia for female private parts. Beck had an impeccable record having served in the Navy for 20 years including SEAL Team Six - the most highly trained elite force in the US military.
