USA - The social media site Gab blamed “oligarch tyrants” who keep the US “under occupation” for being forced offline, after they refused to pay a ransom in bitcoin to a hacker who had pilfered gigabytes of user data through an exploit. “We took the site down to investigate a security breach,” Gab announced on Monday afternoon via their Twitter account. Users trying to log into Gab were greeted with an “internal error” message and told to try again. “Banks are banning us. Hackers are attacking us. Journalists are libeling us. Why?” Gab tweeted, calling the US “a totally subverted nation under the occupation of a handful of oligarch tyrants who use their power to destroy dissenters.” Gab was founded in 2016 as a free-speech alternative to Twitter, and has been criticized from the start over Torba’s refusal to police what mainstream media called “hate speech.” It surged in popularity in January, after major social media outlets banned President Donald Trump and deplatformed Parler, another free speech network popular among purged conservatives.
USA - Our political system is broken, our industrial base is vanishing, our education system is in shambles. We’re getting close to the end now. Can you feel it? I do. It’s in the news, on the streets, and in your face every day. You can’t tune it out anymore, even if you wanted to. Where once there was a civil debate in the court of public opinion, we now have censorship, monopoly, screaming, insults, demonization, and, finally, the use of force to silence the opposition. There is no turning back now. The political extremes are going to war, and you will be dragged into it even if you consider yourself apolitical.
ISRAEL - Israeli Defense Forces are turning their attention to a new front: the war raging in cyberspace. And in an attempt to coordinate what up to now have been disjointed, sometimes overlapping operations, the Israeli military's chief of staff recently announced the creation of a special cyber unit. The unit will be similar to cyber commands established in recent years in other military structures around the world. But in Israel, this is also seen as a potential boost to the economy, as the professional training the unit's soldiers receive will allow them to later move to Israel's high-tech sector. The result could be a boom in Israeli start-ups.
USA - A new type of supply chain attack unveiled last month is targeting more and more companies, with new rounds this week taking aim at Microsoft, Amazon, Slack, Lyft, Zillow, and an unknown number of others In weeks past, Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and 32 other companies were targeted by a similar attack that allowed a security researcher to execute unauthorized code inside their networks.
USA - Microsoft announced this week that another one of its email products, Exchange, had been compromised by a hacking campaign. This recent hack is actually totally unrelated to the “SolarWinds” one, in which Microsoft has also played an outsized role. A state-sponsored threat actor from China dubbed “HAFNIUM” is said to be exploiting a number of zero-day flaws in on-premises Microsoft Exchange servers all over the globe in an apparent effort to steal data.
GERMANY - When Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) met online to elect a new party leadership in January, hackers carried out a series of massive attacks aimed at throwing the summit into chaos. The attacks picked up speed every time delegates were about to vote. According to CDU spokespeople, the assailants, operating mostly from abroad, bombarded the party's website with internet traffic to overwhelm its server. At some point, they succeeded. The site collapsed and the livestream of the event cut out.
USA - The upcoming Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for vaccinated individuals will not be a return to pre-pandemic normalcy, according to CNN.
USA - Normal Americans are over the masks. They are over the lockdowns. They are over the media hysteria. Who is not “over” all of that is the radical left, which desperately wants Americans to remain paralyzed with fear and completely under the ‘lock down’ control of the Democratic Party? A New York Times reporter has brought attention to a ‘mask burning party” on the Idaho Capitol steps. The reaction of the left to these videos is either downright ghoulish or steeped in derision. “Darwinism in action,” one user tweeted. “A lot of these people are the same people who will refuse the vaccine. Their population/communities will be culled over time due to this rejection of science. I don’t say this with malice. It’s just a fact. I feel for the innocent children.” “What the hell does the rest of the world think when they see things like this?” another added. “We look like a bunch of ignorant hicks.”
USA - America is a nation facing crisis. Whether it is the coronavirus pandemic response, the crisis at the nation’s southern border, or brewing conflict in the Middle East, it is in need of strong and steady leadership. During this time of immense national challenges, it appears that leadership is not going to come from the President of the United States. Unfortunately, it appears that Joe Biden is the “missing” president.
NEW ZEALAND - New Zealand has been rocked by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake off its east coast just days after a string of quakes in the same region sparked tsunami fears and mass evacuations. A series of tremors were recorded on Tuesday morning - four days after two powerful earthquakes triggered evacuations along a 100-mile stretch of the country's coast. The most significant was a quake off the north-east coast with a 6.6 magnitude recorded at 8.35am local time. A less powerful 4.9 magnitude tremor was felt further away from the mainland in the Kermadec Islands region north of New Zealand a minute later at 8.36am. No tsumani warnings have so far been issued.
SWITZERLAND - Always seeming to have a front row seat when tragedy approaches, Schwab’s proximity to world-altering events likely owes to his being one of the most well-connected men on Earth. As the driving force behind the World Economic Forum, “the international organization for public-private cooperation,” Schwab has courted heads of state, leading business executives, and the elite of academic and scientific circles into the Davos fold for over 50 years. More recently, he has also courted the ire of many due to his more recent role as the frontman of the Great Reset, a sweeping effort to remake civilization globally for the express benefit of the elite of the World Economic Forum and their allies. The last question that should be asked about the real motivations behind the actions of Herr Schwab, may be the most important for the future of humanity: Is Klaus Schwab trying to create the Fourth Industrial Revolution, or is he trying to create the Fourth Reich?
CHINA - Sometime between 2015 and 2020, China’s Navy crossed a critical threshold: it fielded more battle force ships than the US Navy, making it the world’s latest navy numerically. Today, at around 360 hulls, it exceeds its American rival by more than sixty warships. The gap continues to grow rapidly. And China has two other fleets subordinated to its armed forces: the Coast Guard and Maritime Militia. In total: three sea forces, each the world’s largest numerically, that total over 700 ships even by conservative accounting.
CHINA - An arms race is heating up in the seas around East Asia - the US is planning to increase its military spending aiming to contain China, while Beijing is set to secure its regional periphery from encirclement. China’s governing party announced on Friday that it would be increasing the country’s annual defence spending by 6.8 percent – taking it up to a total of $280 billion – and affirming its strong opposition to “Taiwan separatism”.
CHINA - China’s state-run Global Times reported on Friday that the Communist government plans to increase carbon emissions for at least nine more years. Many Western environmentalists claim to believe China’s promises to cut back on pollution, even as the Chinese litter the world with coal-burning, carbon-spewing power plants and plan for industrial growth that is wholly inconsistent with a sharp turn to “green energy.”
The latest pronouncements from Beijing flatter that illusion while maintaining an unwavering determination to generate as much power as it takes to fulfill the Communist Party’s industrial goals, by any means necessary — including extensive use of nuclear power plants, ostensibly the greatest sin against Western environmentalism.
The Global Times pretended China still plans to “peak” its carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and become “carbon neutral” by 2060, but even that pretense included a clear declaration that China dramatically increased its reliance on nuclear power instead of fiddling around with solar panels and windmills. China insists its nuclear plants are the safest and most advanced in the world.
USA - Freedom House on Wednesday released the 2021 edition of its annual Freedom in the World report, charting an alarming “deterioration of democracy” around the world in 2020. The report cited the “malign influence of the regime in China” as one of the most “profound” factors in the rising tide of authoritarianism. Of course, the pandemic that swept out of China to destabilize the world was a major factor as well, and it was a powerful force multiplier for the identified malevolence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
