Trump vs EU

USA - Donald Trump is considering whether to launch a trade investigation against the European Union as a way to justify slapping huge tariffs on the bloc’s US exports. Mr Trump is hoping to use the threat of crippling levies as “leverage” over the bloc during future trade talks. The US President has already used the Section 301 to slap tariffs on China after a US Trade Representative Office investigation found that Beijing’s technology transfer and intellectual property policies “burden or restrict US commerce”. In a speech last week, Mr Trump said: “Many countries charge us extraordinarily high tariffs or create impossible trade barriers. Impossible. “And I’ll be honest: European Union - very, very difficult. The barriers they have up are terrible. Terrible. In many ways, worse than China.” He has often argued that the current trans-Atlantic trade relationship is unfair because the US has a £117 billion trade deficit with Brussels.

Bolivia: Morales Ousted in Coup

BOLIVIA - Around the world, political chaos is the order of the day. The latest victim appears to be President Morales of Bolivia, ousted in a military coup recently. He would not allow US companies to get involved in the countries reserves of the vital element, lithium, so as the following article points out, he had to go!

The Total Breakdown Of Relations With China

USA - We just witnessed one of the most monumental events of the entire decade, and yet most Americans still don’t understand what has happened. In recent months, the global economy and stock markets around the world have been buoyed by the hope that the US and China would soon sign a new trade agreement. Unfortunately, there is no way that is going to happen now.

China is trying hard for initial US trade deal

CHINA - China will strive to reach an initial trade agreement with the United States as both sides keep communication channels open, the Chinese commerce ministry said on Thursday, in an attempt to allay fears that the talks might be unravelling. China is willing to work with the US to resolve each other's core concerns on the basis of equality and mutual respect, and will try hard to reach a "phase one" deal, Gao Feng, spokesman at the ministry, told reporters.

Leaders Resign from Vatican Financial Oversight Organization

VATICAN - Two board members of the Vatican’s Financial Information Authority (AIF) have resigned, with one saying that there is “no point in staying on the board of an empty shell.” On Monday, the Vatican announced that Rene Bruelhart, the president of the AIF, would be leaving and that his successor has already been appointed, just weeks after unprecedented internal police raids on both his organization and the Vatican’s Secretariat of State. Bruelhart, a 47-year-old Swiss lawyer, said he resigned from the top job at the AIF, but did not go into further detail. The Vatican police raid on AIF offices resulted in the suspension of AIF director Tommaso Di Ruzza and four other Vatican employees, but so far, the Vatican has given no explanation for the raid or the suspension.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicted on fraud

ISRAEL - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been indicted on charges of fraud, bribery and breach of trust, the Israeli Justice Ministry said Thursday. The prime minister, who is the country’s longest-serving leader, has strenuously denied any wrongdoing, calling allegations against him a politically motivated witch hunt.

Perception won't be reality

USA - Voice-spoofing technology was used to steal a quarter-million dollars in March from the unwitting CEO of an energy company, who thought he was talking to his (German) boss. A recent study showed that 72 percent of people reading an AI-generated news story thought it was credible. In September, a smartphone app called Zao became a viral sensation in China; before the government abruptly outlawed it, Zao allowed people to seamlessly swap themselves into famous movie scenes. Then there is that infamous case of doctored video of the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that went viral before being detected as being manipulated to make her appear drunk.

ISRAEL: Gantz fails to form coalition government

ISRAEL - Israelis may be headed to the polls for the third time in a year, after Blue & White leader Benny Gantz said he was unable to form a coalition government with either Arab parties or its main rival, PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud. Gantz was entrusted with the mandate to form a coalition government by President Reuven Rivlin a month ago, after Netanyahu got a chance and failed. With just hours left before the Wednesday deadline, the former IDF chief of staff told Rivlin he did not have a coalition.

Prince Andrew to step down from public duties

UK - Queen summons distraught Duke of York to Buckingham Palace, orders him to step down from public duties and strips him of £249,000 'salary' amid fall-out from his friendship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The Queen 'sacked' Prince Andrew from royal duties after discussing the crisis with Prince Charles and summoning her distraught 'favourite son' to Buckingham Palace to learn his fate. The Duke of York is today being urged to fly to America to speak to the FBI with lawyers for Jeffrey Epstein's victims warning him 'any delay' must lead to US agents heading to London to interview him before Christmas.

‘On the edge of a precipice’: Macron’s stark warning to Europe.

EUROPE - That was the headline on the cover of the latest issue of The Economist. French president Emmanuel Macron told the magazine, “If we don’t wake up… there’s a considerable risk that in the long run we will disappear geopolitically.” The “we,” in this case, is Europe. In other words, if Europe wishes to play the role of a great power, it will have to be a great power, complete with military mojo. The magazine summarized Macron: “The underlying message is brutal.” That is, Europe’s current path — pursuing prosperity and political correctness at the expense of realpolitik — must change.

Donald Trump: EU can't defend itself

USA - The United States has condemned Emmanuel Macron’s criticism of Nato and warned European Union leaders they can’t manage global security threats on their own. “And I believe Nato is absolutely essential if we are going to assess the risks that we face altogether and the thought of only one of our countries, or one of our groups of countries, facing the enormous risks to our population alone is not even rational.” The French President raised eyebrows when he claimed the trans-Atlantic military alliance was suffering from “brain death”. In an interview, he cast doubt over whether the US would honour its Article 5 commitment – the mutual defence clause that underpins Nato – as he pushed for a European Union defence force.

Europe must learn the language of power

GERMANY - Leading German politicians are calling for a more aggressive German and EU foreign and military policy, in the run-up to tomorrow's Bundeswehr public oath-taking ceremony. "Europe must learn the language of power," says Ursula von der Leyen, the designated EU Commission President, and is demanding to "build our own muscles" militarily.

TURKEY - 'Army of Islam' to attack Israel on all sides

TURKEY - Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) have announced they want to create an “army of Islam” to wage war against Israel, it has been revealed. Less than a month ago the Turkish state’s mouthpiece the daily Yeni Şafak ran an article for Erdogan titled “A call for urgent action” and on the newspaper’s website headlined “What if an army of Islam formed against Israel?” It called for the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to form a joint army to simultaneously attack Israel from all sides. The article said: “If the member states of the OIC unite militarily, they will form the world’s largest and most comprehensive army. The number of active soldiers would be at least 5,206,100, while the defence budget would reach approximately $175 billion (£124 billion).”

US Spending 13% higher than same period under Obama

USA - During the first 33 full months of the Trump administration – from February 2017 through October 2019 – the federal government has spent roughly $11.762 trillion, according to tabulations of monthly statements from the Treasury Department. If you flash back to the equivalent 33-month period during the beginning of Obama’s first term – from February 2009 through October 2011 – spending was approximately $10.3 trillion. That was the period of all the bank bailouts and the stimulus. That was the period where we saw the expansion of welfare and unemployment benefits. Yet, today, outlays are 13.2 percent higher than the infamous spending binge. To be fair, if you factor in inflation, the percentage increase is not nearly as dramatic… would be only a 3.2 percent increase.

Listen to Me, You who know righteousness, You people in whose heart is My Law: …I have put My words in your mouth, I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, That I may plant the heavens, Lay the foundations of the earth, and say to Zion, “you are My people” (Isaiah 51:7,16)
