How It Works

NewsGuard’s trained journalists assess news websites for credibility and transparency. Our team of trained journalists and experienced editors is rating and reviewing thousands of news and information websites based on nine journalistic criteria — such as whether the site regularly publishes false content, reveals conflicts of interest, discloses financing, or publicly corrects reporting errors.

We use humans, not algorithms, to identify unreliable news because we believe our work should be done with transparency and accountability. When we issue a rating, the names of the journalists who worked on it are listed, along with their biographies and contact information. And whenever any website fails to meet one of our nine criteria, we call and email the site to attempt to give them a chance to comment. Algorithms do not call for comment.

We assign each news website a red or green rating — indicating its trustworthiness. Depending how a site performs on our nine criteria, it is assigned a color rating. Sites with green ratings follow basic standards of accuracy and accountability. Sites with red ratings do not.

NewsGuard’s analysts write a detailed description of each site they rate, describing the site’s background, ownership, content, and why it received its rating — including its performance on each of the nine criteria.

While their story reports this 'doomsday scenario' is unlikely, they never-the-less report it's also 'chilling' with the US potentially facing what economists actually called 'an economic hellscape' should this worst case scenario unfold.

And while Michael Snyder over at the Economic Collapse Blog reports that the mainstream media is overhyping the potential economic impact of the government shutdown for political purposes, as we had reported on ANP back on January 2nd, should the shutdown extend into February of 2019, 38 million low-income Americans could lose their food stamps and as has long been warned, only 9 meals stand between a civil society and total anarchy.

The first issue listed is an HOS (hours of service) reform that makes sense. The second is parking, where there is an approximate shortage of 78,000 truck parking spaces, which grows from 1,000 to 1,800 a year. Third on his list is driver training and having set standards for all drivers. Lastly they are requesting that drivers be involved in the process of making new regulations.

"Grocery stores would run out of food in 3 days if long-haul truckers stopped working." It begins with "Trucking moves 71% of the freight in the United States. And if it were to suddenly cease, the effects would be more drastic than you might expect." Trucks and their drivers, quite literally keep our nation, and therefore our economy going.

With the clock ticking down to March 29, the date set in law for Brexit, the United Kingdom is now ensnared in the deepest political crisis in half a century as it grapples with how, or even whether, to exit the European project that it joined in 1973.

“It is clear that the House does not support this deal, but tonight’s vote tells us nothing about what it does support,” May told parliament, moments after the result was announced. “… nothing about how - or even if - it intends to honour the decision the British people took in a referendum parliament decided to hold.”

“This deal is dead,” said Boris Johnson, the Conservative Party’s most prominent Brexiteer, who urged May to go back to Brussels to seek better terms.

And the experts were certainly anticipating substantial increases in both categories in December, but instead there were huge declines. There is no possible way to spin these numbers to make them look good… Data from China showed imports fell 7.6 percent year-on-year in December while analysts had predicted a 5-percent rise. Exports dropped 4.4 percent, confounding expectations for a 3-percent gain.

China now accounts for more total global trade than the United States does, and the fact that the numbers for the global economy’s number one trade hub are falling this dramatically is a major warning sign. Adding to the gloom were weak industrial output numbers from the euro zone, which showed the largest fall in nearly three years.

Softening demand has been felt around the world, with sales of goods ranging from iPhones to automobiles slowing, prompting profit warnings from Apple among others. We also continue to get more indications that the US economy is slowing down significantly. For example, sales of new homes in the US were down 19 percent in November and 18 percent in December… If we were headed for a major global recession, these are exactly the types of news stories that we would expect to see.

He claimed that anyone calling for secure borders in Germany today faces an "overreaction." The discourse, he said, is largely being controlled by "elites in Berlin" and he argued that anyone who speaks openly about the issue runs the risk of being portrayed as being part of the "radical far-right" by the German media. Sebastian Kurz, Grenell said, "won in a very big way" in Austria because he called for clear immigration rules. As a result, he said, the young chancellor was becoming popular "throughout Germany," adding that everyday Germans and Europeans were yearning for leaders who want secure borders.

Grenell's TV interview was a thinly veiled call for a change of government in Berlin. It was akin to a German ambassador in Washington attacking the American president's immigration policy on German public television and then touting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as a role model.

On the day he took up his post, he tweeted that "German companies doing business in Iran should wind down operations immediately." Martin Schulz, the former head of the center-left Social Democratic Party, compared his behavior to that of "a right-wing extremist colonial officer." Four weeks later in Breitbart, the main organ of the pro-Trump, right-wing "alt-right" movement, Grenell essentially called for regime change. "I absolutely want to empower other conservatives throughout Europe," he said.

The 16th Amendment was ratified February 3rd 1913 just after the Federal Reserve Act was approved by Woodrow Wilson. These two acts shackled Americans unconstitutionally to an unfair tax code that would lead to financial slavery. This was the plan of the Rothschild banking cartel.

Martial Law supersedes the Constitution. Lincoln intended to withdraw from this order after the war was over bringing back the rule of law, Constitutional law that is. He was murdered just five days after the war ended. He never got a chance to reinstate the Constitution. This was planned. Upon succeeding the throne, Andrew Johnson failed us miserably. He turned his back on America and placated the bankers. The Constitution was never reinstated. Again, this was the plan.

The USA became a corporation under the despotic banking cartel that quickly moved in in 1871 under President U S Grant. This was the beginning of the end of Constitutional America and the beginning of civil slavery for every man woman and child who had become the possession of the UNITED STATES INC as a “civilian”, not a sovereign. This distinction coined in the 14th Amendment- ratified in 1868. This was the plan.

Reader, the Civil War was fomented by the European bankers. They created a false civil war just like they did in France (French Revolution) and would eventually do in Russia. This is their playbook. They have done it numerous times over the course of hundreds of years. They are doing it again right now in America.

The US ambassador said in a letter to German newspaper Bild: “We emphasise that companies involved in Russian energy exports are taking part in something that could prompt significant risk of sanctions.” The Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) adopted in 2017 targets Iran, Russia and North Korea. He added: “Firms supporting the construction of the pipelines are activity undermining the security of Ukraine and Europe.”

Determined not to be bullied by the US, Heiko Mass, the German foreign minister said: “European energy policy should be decided in Europe, not in the United States.” In a scathing attack on Washington, Mr Mass said: “That the US ambassador is now turning to German companies with direct threats is a new and unacceptable one-sided tightening of the tone in the transatlantic relationship.”

He added: “If the US president thinks he has to publicly show he is getting tough on Russia in view of the many question marks regarding his relationship with Moscow, he should not thereby impair the relationship with his most important ally.”
