With the president’s signature, agriculture giants that deal with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and genetically engineered (GE) seeds are given the go-ahead to continue to plant and sell man-made crops, even as questions remain largely unanswered about the health risks these types of products pose to consumers.

In light of approval from the House and Senate, more than 250,000 people signed a petition asking the president to veto the spending bill over the biotech rider tacked on, an item that has since been widely referred to as the “Monsanto Protection Act.”

“But Obama ignored the petition”, IB Times Connor Sheets writes, “instead of choosing to sign a bill that effectively bars federal courts from being able to halt the sale or planting of GMO or GE crops and seeds, no matter what health consequences from the consumption of these products may come to light in the future”.

All of which brings me to the more important point about this election. For all the fireworks, the whizzes and bangs, the sky lighting up in luminescent colours - the bigger truth about this campaign is that it has shown a deeply polarised America. A Disunited State of America, if you like. Who knows whether Donald Trump will win or lose - there's no point trying to look into a crystal ball when we can wait a few hours and get the results proper.

But what his campaign has shown is there is a sizeable minority of Americans who are not just disaffected and feeling alienated, they are furious. They feel that America is going to hell in a handcart. They feel that Washington is a corrupt cesspool. They cry 'drain the swamp' at Trump rallies - with almost as much gusto as they shout 'lock her up,' about Hillary Clinton.

There are a vast number of Americans who've simply had it with conventional, democratic politics. These are people who want America to pull up the drawbridge and stop trying to be the global policeman and global trader. They are people who are demanding radical change - and ideally overnight.

Whoever wins this turbulent, divisive, vituperative election is not going to enjoy any kind of political honeymoon. There is too much anger for that. There will be no basking in the warm glow of the adoration of the American public. I guarantee you this: over 40% of the American public will not only feel the normal disappointment that their man/woman didn't win, but they will feel that the winner is a corrupt, fraudulent, venal charlatan. The office of the presidency should rise above individuals, but in 2016 it's going to struggle to.

I have even heard some people say that God told them that Donald Trump is going to win the election. Well, we will find out on Tuesday night who was right and who was wrong. Personally, I don’t know what is going to happen, but I am quite skeptical of Trump’s chances and I can’t shake this ominous feeling about what Tuesday night will bring.

Even if Trump could legitimately get the votes that he needs, would the elite just stand by and allow him to win the election? There was evidence of widespread fraud in the last election, and there have already been reports of vote switching in this election. Bev Harris of blackboxvoting.org has been documenting how our elections have been stolen for many years, and at this point I have very little faith in the integrity of our system.

But I still voted. Early voting is available where I live, and on Friday I voted for Donald Trump. I just wish that I could believe that my vote is going to matter. On Sunday we got another glaring example of how rigged the system is. In a letter to Congress, FBI Director James Comey announced that his agency is ending the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails.

By some miracle, the FBI was able to examine approximately 650,000 emails in just eight days. But there are only 691,200 seconds in eight days. So the FBI somehow reviewed these emails at the rate of about one every second, and now they have conveniently come to the conclusion that Hillary Clinton is totally innocent just two days before the election. I don’t know how any American is going to be able to have faith in our system of justice after this. We truly do live in a lawless nation…

That means that there will be no indictment, and the path is now clear for Hillary Clinton to become the next president of the United States on Tuesday unless an election miracle happens. These days it is unusual for a news story to hit me on a deeply emotional level, but this one sure did. When the FBI originally announced that they were renewing this investigation, it gave me a glimmer of hope that there may be a little bit of integrity left in our legal system.

But after today’s announcement I have lost all faith in our deeply corrupt system of justice. America has become a lawless nation, and the rule of law is completely dead in this country. Yes, it is true that those of us in the general public do not know what was contained in those emails, and Director Comey says that nothing significant was found in them… But of course the truth is that the FBI already had more than enough to go after Clinton based on what they discovered the first time around.

In the world of national security, if you transmit a single classified document via a channel that is unsecured, you will lose your security clearance in a heartbeat and it is quite likely that you will be prosecuted and sent to prison for mishandling classified information.

As a law student and then later as an attorney working in Washington DC, I got to see just how deeply corrupt our legal system has become. But after today, I don’t see how any American can ever have faith in the rule of law again. If the law does not apply equally to all persons at all times and in all circumstances, we might as well not even have a legal system.

But regardless of who wins, after a presidential campaign marred by scandal, political violence, allegations of corruption and fears of voter fraud, America’s image stands tarnished in the eyes of its own people and the world.

The United States has always attracted its share of international criticism on foreign policy, especially during the Iraq war. But rarely has its political system been subjected to such widespread scorn and ridicule. Eight short years after the nation was lauded for overcoming its deepest prejudice by electing a black president, this campaign has laid bare an ugly underbelly of American politics. And it has exposed the capacity of a nation defined by its democratic ideals to fall victim to the same antidemocratic forces that have stymied third world countries.

Across the planet, people are contemplating the possibility that the United States might not be so exceptional after all. “Much of the world is no longer in awe of you,” said Lyall Mercer, managing director of a public relations company in Australia.

And the British scientist at the forefront of the eerie theory claims that humans have souls which don't die along with the body. We many not know exactly what consciousness is, but physicist Sir Roger Penrose believes that it's just a packet of information stored at a quantum - or sub-atomic - level.

Sensationally, he claims to have found evidence that this information, which is stored in microtubules within human cells, leaves the body after a person dies. Sir Roger has argued that when a person dies temporarily, this quantum information is released into the universe, only to return to the body's cells if the host is brought back to life.

He argues that this explains why people can have near-death experiences, and believes that this quantum information amounts to a soul leaving the body. The physics expert said: "If the patient dies, it's possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body, perhaps indefinitely, as a soul."

So with research suggesting an increasing proportion of US adults are getting their news from social media, it's likely that more and more of us are seeing - and believing - information that is not just inaccurate, but totally made up. There are hundreds of fake news websites out there, from those which deliberately imitate real life newspapers, to government propaganda sites, and even those which tread the line between satire and plain misinformation.

One of them is The National Report which advertises itself as "America's Number 1 Independent News Source", and which was set up by Allen Montgomery (not his real name). "There are times when it feels like a drug," Montgomery told BBC Trending. "There are highs that you get from watching traffic spikes and kind of baiting people into the story. I just find it to be a lot of fun."

"We've had stories that have made $10,000 (about £8,100). When we really tap in to something and get it to go big then we're talking about in the thousands of dollars that are made per story," Montgomery says. Montgomery says he now has nine fake news sites around which he moves content to try to beat Facebook censoring.

So if fake news sites aren't going away, Buzzfeed's Craig Silverman says that more needs to be done to ensure that people aren't duped by them. "Journalists need to get training so that they can quickly spot fakes, and people in school should learn how to read things critically online - they should learn how to research and check multiple sources online."

[The email reads:] “We have been told, and we are preparing to report, that the FBI has taken possession of the thumb drive that was once in your possession. This is what we have been informed, and we wanted to see whether there was any sort of comment that could be provided. If you wanted to steer us away and say that we are misinformed, then I would gladly accept that as well. But we have solid reason to believe this. We'd welcome any comment you can offer. Thanks very much. Eric”

What's truly astonishing in this email is how AP reporter Eric Tucker says he will gladly LIE to cover for the Clintons. In plain English, he explains that he has "solid reason" to believe the report about the thumb drive, but he will gladly publish a false narrative via the Associated Press, and he even suggests what that false narrative should be: "If you wanted to steer us away and say that we are misinformed, then I would gladly accept that as well."

In other words, he's not just corrupt, dishonest and fraudulent as a journalist, he's also suggesting the false narrative the Clintons should use! It all brings to mind the obvious question: How many other Associated Presstitutes deliberately lied to cover up Clinton crimes? Just what percentage of AP stories about the Clinton scandals are actually FAKE NEWS pretending to be credible journalism?

Baron Thomas, who is the country's most senior judge, sparked a constitutional crisis this morning when he, alongside Sir Terence Etherton and Lord Justice Sales, ruled in the High Court the Government cannot trigger Article 50. However, it has since emerged Baron Thomas set up the European Law Institute, which carries out research about EU law, alongside Liberal Democrat MEP Diana Wallis who is now its president.

Eurosceptics reacted with dismay to the ruling at the High Court this morning, brought before the judges by a former South American model and her financier husband. Now Brexiteers fear the decision could prove an “appalling” subversion of the will of the British people, following the historic vote on June 23 to quit the EU.

Nigel Farage took to Twitter to express his concerns, saying: “I worry that a betrayal may be near at hand.”
