FRANCE - The Paris terror attacks are likely to galvanize a stronger global military response to Islamic State, after a US-led air war that has lasted more than a year has failed to contain a group now proving itself to be a growing worldwide threat.
USA - President Barack Obama said that ISIS was 'contained' just a day before the terrorist group claimed responsibility for a horrific attack in Paris that killed 128 people on Friday. In an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that aired on Friday's broadcast of Good Morning America, Obama declared that he didn't believe ISIS (also known as ISIL) was gaining strength.
USA - At the Democratic presidential debates Bernie Sanders blamed US policy in the Middle East for creating instability in the region. Martin O’Malley joined the criticism, while Hillary Clinton had a hard time defending her vote supporting the Iraq invasion. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders called the invasion of Iraq, “One of the worst foreign policy blunders in the modern history of the United States.”
FRANCE - At 7pm on Friday 13th we do not have much information about the “terrorist attacks” in Paris other than that Paris is closed down like Boston was after the “Boston Marathon Bombing,” also a suspected false flag event.
ISRAEL - Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned France's parliament Sunday against recognizing a Palestinian state in a vote on December 2. "Do they have nothing better to do at a time of beheadings across the Middle East, including that of a French citizen?" he asked reporters in Jerusalem, referring to hiker Herve Gourdel who was executed by jihadists in Algeria in September.
ISRAEL - Israel has arrested a Palestinian suspect in the killing of two Israelis in a drive-by shooting in the West Bank. The Shin Bet internal security service said Sunday that forces also seized a weapon and vehicle used in the shooting. It says the suspect admitted to involvement in Friday's attack, which killed a rabbi and his son, who were driving with family south of the city of Hebron. Israeli media say more than a dozen Palestinians were arrested in connection with the attack over the weekend. The shooting was the latest escalation in two months of Palestinian attacks, mainly stabbings, which have killed 14 Israelis. At least 81 Palestinians have been killed, of whom Israel says 51 were involved in assaults. The rest were killed in clashes with security forces.
EUROPE - It’s a simple truth but apparently Europe’s elites can’t grasp it: letting Muslim “refugees” into a First World society means epidemic rape. Already, as of three years ago, immigrants, mostly of Muslim descent, were responsible for about 50 percent of the rapes in three Italian cities [52% of rapes in Rome committed by immigrants, 59% in Milan, 40% in Italy, by Daniel Greenfield, FrontPageMag, December 26, 2012]. Now Norway, Sweden, and other nations have also been ravaged by Islamic rapists and even honor killings.
GERMANY - In the coming years, Germany will drift away from its integrationist ideals in Europe and become more Eurosceptic in general, a Stratfor analysis report said. The German political shift would also change the country's foreign policy priorities, making Berlin more distant from the United States and closer to Russia and its fluid energy market, the US intelligence company said.
GERMANY - The leading foreign policy journal of Germany is debating NATO's utility. Today, the utility of the Alliance is "unclear," according to the latest edition of "Internationale Politik." Countries in Europe and North America could solve their "security" problems without NATO, whereas - this should be conceded - NATO has done great damage to relations with Russia.
GERMANY - Angela Merkel’s political future is being questioned for the first time in Germany as divisions continue to grow in her government over her “open-door” refugee policy. Guests on a popular television political talk show debated the possibility of a coup against the German chancellor from within her own party. The discussion came as civil servants at the government refugee agency warned identity checks for Syrian asylum-seekers were ineffective and open to abuse by economic migrants and terrorists.
POLAND - Tens of thousands of protesters poured into Warsaw's streets on Wednesday for a demonstration organised by the far right, marching under the slogan "Poland for the Polish" and burning an EU flag. Police said 25,000 people joined the march, which marked the anniversary of Poland's return to independence after the First World War, while organisers put the numbers at 50,000.
GERMANY - Germany in U-turn on Dublin system for refugees as interior minister gives order to start deporting asylum seekers back to the EU state they first entered. Germany is to start deporting Syrian refugees after reinstating EU rules under which they must claim asylum in the first member state they enter.
CHILE - Something strange is happening to our planet. Over the past 30 days, there seems to have been much more “shaking” than normal, and this is particularly true along the Ring of Fire. This afternoon I visited the official website of the US Geological Survey, and I discovered that Chile had been hit with 12 major earthquakes within the last 24 hours alone.
JAPAN - A magnitude 7.0 earthquake has struck off Japan's south-western coast, triggering a small tsunami. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said a 30cm (1ft) tsunami was registered on the southern Nakanoshima island, part of Kagoshima prefecture. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. A tsunami warning issued for Kagoshima and Satsunan islands was later lifted. The quake happened at a depth of about 10km (six miles). In 2011, a massive earthquake caused a tsunami that left more than 18,000 people dead or missing in north-eastern Japan. Some 230,000 people have yet to return to their home towns since the disaster.
USA - New York, Boston and other cities in the United States bolstered security on Friday night after deadly gun and bomb attacks on civilians in Paris, but law enforcement officials said the beefed-up police presence was precautionary rather than a response to any specific threats.
